The First Chapter

2002 November - 2003 January

November was the month I first went out with Sam. Her friend, also called Sam, had told me that I had an admirer. After spending almost a week trying to figure it out and ending up at a 50+ year old woman, I decided to try and get it out of her who it was! Luckily on one particular cold day, came the fire drill at the call centre. As my car was without doubt the best in the car park (a BMW coupe with the M-Sport body kit - not a new one, just a really classy car) I thought I'd make it known that it was mine, in case the perp came forward and decided I was worth persuing further! Indeed it seemed to work, as by the end of the week I knew the name of the admirer, which filled me with quite a bit of confidence and I was riding high on a cloud until... Thinking I'd got it in the bag, I decided to ask her out. I knew life was going to be interesting when she turned me down and started to play hard to get! After a few different visits to her PC, I managed to get her to agree to a few drinks one evening. But it was difficult. I thought it was supposed to be easy! I thought it was in the bag! I didn't know at that point that we would later end up married, but it was a fantastically good time learning about each other, and our likes and dislikes. I had to think of more and more sophisticated places to take her, with he help of 'me old mate' DP. One particular evening I took her to Langsett (very close to the Mustard Pot which I liked to wine and dine her in, although had to take out a small mortgage for) and this is where we had our first kiss. Unfortunately me being me wasn't the most direct of people and it was Sam who made the first move. But I supposed most people would understand that! Christmas came, and I'd been nominated to be in the Christmas Calendar, so had to pose semi-naked. Not nice. I think Sam was a little bit proud though, that her new found interest had been chosen for such an event out of the 500+ other men in the call centre - although she never said that!
